Story.

"My Ukrainian roots have given me a deep work ethic and resilience, while Finnish culture has taught me to value preservation, sustainability, and respect for nature — to understand that not everything needs to be thrown away, but can instead be given a new life."

Irina De Andres, designer and environmental specialist,

combined these values with her passion for renewing and preserving vintage furniture.

This is how De Andres Design was born — a company that embodies the spirit of Finnish craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless aesthetics.

My Ukrainian roots have given me a deep work ethic and resilience, while Finnish culture has taught me to value preservation, sustainability, and respect for nature — to understand that not everything needs to be thrown away, but can instead be given a new life.

2017

Verhoomo d'Andressi

In 2017, Irina decided to open a small upholstery studio — a place where she could bring her own projects to life and turn her passion for craftsmanship and design into reality.

On Kasarmikatu, she found a small but perfect space that immediately felt right.

That’s where it all began.

There, she discovered the joy of learning, a love for Scandinavian and Finnish vintage design, and a deep passion for renewal and restoration — blending craftsmanship, aesthetics, and sustainable thinking into one creative journey.

2019

De Andres Antique

By 2019, Irina already had a growing community of satisfied clients.

She had mastered the art of restoring antique furniture — learning to treat surfaces, sand and tint wooden parts, and deepening her expertise in upholstery.

However, the small studio soon began to feel too limited.

Fortunately, a larger space became available nearby, and Irina was able to rent it.

Thus, Verhoomo d’Andressi moved into a new, more spacious home and evolved into De Andres Antique — a place where the work expanded, and the idea of creating her own projects was born.

Knowledge and experience grew, new ideas flourished, and more and more forgotten pieces of furniture found new life as beautiful interior objects — pieces that clients not only admired, but wanted to make their own.

2023

De Andres Design

By 2023, the amount of work and the number of clients had grown so much that help was needed.

Around Irina, a wonderful team began to form — including the highly skilled master craftsman Juri Makhovoy and the stylish, thoughtful textile and project designer Irina Savolainen.

Together, they brought new strength, professionalism, and inspiration.

At the same time, more and more independent projects emerged, along with the idea of creating a new space — a place to present and sell Irina’s restored vintage furniture and her own design pieces.

With the support of her team, Irina succeeded in creating a beautiful store and atelier by Fredrikintori Square.

It was a bold decision — but one that proved absolutely right.

The idea turned out to be a success: the shop became bright, elegant, and thriving.

This is how the De Andres Design Atelier was born — a place that soon delighted the residents of Ullanlinna, Eira, and Punavuori; a space where the old is given new life, and where design continues to breathe history.

De Andres Design Töölö

2025

By 2025, De Andres Design had grown significantly — the number of projects continued to increase, and the workload expanded.

The atelier had already mastered the entire process of furniture restoration, and with the addition of the talented cabinetmaker Thomas von Troil, new expertise and refined restoration techniques were introduced.

Together, Irina, Juri, and Thomas formed a strong and versatile team, capable of offering clients a complete service — from design and restoration to ongoing care.

Clients began coming from all across Helsinki, not just the city center — to purchase Irina’s creations or to commission furniture restoration.

When a perfect space became available in the heart of Töölö, the decision to open a new store was made quickly.

The new location was warmly received.

The service — combining sustainability, respect for history, and timeless design — earned high praise from Töölö residents.

De Andres Design continues to follow the same philosophy: cherishing beauty, durability, and Nordic aesthetics.
